Merrill for Mayor

My name is Luke Merrill. I'm a 34-year lifelong resident of the City of Isanti. Born & raised in this community. I enjoy spending time with family, working on cars, fishing, financial consulting, shooting guns and just about anything else outdoors. I have always been very involved & have dedicated most of my life to serving my community, my teammates and my family.

Throughout gradeschool, I played multiple sports and won a state high school bowling championship. I graduated from the Cambridge-Isanti High School, class of 2010. 

During my time at College (University of Minnesota - Duluth), I earned two honors Bachelors degrees in 4 years - Economics & Psychology, with minors in Business Administration & Marketing. I was the Economics Club President and lead Psychology Peer councilor my senior year.

After graduating college, I came home to help take care of my sick/disabled father. During my time taking care of my dad, I got involved with the City of Isanti Economic Development Authority and started my own social media marketing business. From there, I was asked to be a commissioner on the Isanti County Park board, where this is now my 10th year as an active commissioner; overseeing over 1000 acres of nature-based county park land.

I was elected to Isanti City Council in 2022, where I served two years. During those first two years, we were able to cut wasteful spending and lower the city tax rate over 17%, while still adding additional services and amenities for our community.

In 2025, I was elected to the City of Isanti Mayor seat, where I have now served for almost 2 years. We have continued to cut the tax rate, added more police services, built new parks, done major road construction projects, changed ordinances to be more business and resident friendly, stood tall for freedom, retained the old state flag, and much more. Under my leadership, the City of Isanti has had the highest tax rate reduction in the state of Minnesota since 2023- over 23% reduction. 

I'm honored to announce my candidacy, again as Mayor, for the 2026 election year.

Together, we can ensure that Isanti continues to thrive and remains the small, but successful town that we are all proud to call home. I stand for Common Sense, Taxpayer Focused Leadership. I will continue to relentlessly fight for your pocketbook, your family, your business and your freedoms.
